Rosa & Family
Rosa (pictured) has weaving deeply ingrained in her heritage, as this skill is an inseparable part of the cultural legacy of the "Tzotzil" women, to which the Morelia family belongs.
Rosa's daughters, Juana (28) and Sophia (24), acquired the art of weaving from both their mother and their grandmother.
Today, all the women in the Morelia family come together to practice this traditional and intricate craft, producing truly exceptional, one-of-a-kind handmade pieces.
During my first visit to Chiapas, Mexico, I had the pleasure of meeting the Morelia family.
Despite my limited Spanish skills, we connected right away, and they enthusiastically shared the details of their craft with me.
Today, Rosa and her daughters craft our unique pillow covers.
These covers are first woven on traditional waist looms and then meticulously adorned with hand-embroidered ornaments.
This process results in a truly time-intensive and valuable work of art.
